Description
The ima Square Bill can go shallow and crash cover as hard as you can fish it, just like other square bill crankbaits. But, the beauty of the bait is that it’s three or four baits in one.
While some other square bills are good burned, others are at their best when they’re waked or twitched. Some do well deflecting off cover, while others are best in openwater. Action
On a medium retrieve, it wobbles and will want to hunt left or right, working itself back to the center and triggering bites. Waking it on top or twitching it like a jerkbait are also effective methods.
You can mix up the retrieves, from twitching to waking, to reeling it down to three feet and burning it-all in one cast. The Square Bill can do it all.
Recommended Line and Gear
The Square Bill runs a bit shallower than some other crankbaits of this genre, diving three feet on 12lb line and two feet on 15lb test. If you want to burn it over grass or in the shallowest water possible, upsize it to 20lb and it’ll still maintain its hunting action. It can be fished on standard cranking gear with good results.
